Summer’s End (2026)

solo piano 20'

Original music from Summer's End: a multi-sensory work combining three-channel video projection and piano performance. A work that transforms Arctic climate research and lived experience into intimate visual storytelling, original music, and poetry into a meditation on personal and existential loss.

Each movement of the piano music is a response to the poetic text/visuals through harmonic and rhythmic motifs. After music was recorded, the visuals responded in turn with further refinements as a collaborative dialogue. Thus, the music moves through moments of static timelessness, churning and swirling, mourning and hope. As a composer who's spent my own time in the Arctic through projects in Greenland and Svalbard, this project brought all of my own Arctic experiences into focus.
