Contact (2018)
live performance with nude models and contact mics, 35-40'
A collaboration with multimedia artist Drew Austin on using the male form as a tool for making sound and visuals. Three nude male model-performers make marks to create a large mural, while the sounds of making the work are recorded via contact microphones and remixed live into an ambient wash of looping and intimate sounds. As the models' movements over the course of the performance become more gestural and vulnerable, they strip away the paper to wash each other with the mural. The piece ends with microphones in the mouths of the performers, creating a cavernous and visceral 'chorale'.
