Wungsten is a Pittsburgh-based trio of composer-performers (Mark Fromm, Sally Bozzuto, and myself) who write songs about outer space, animals (usually mammals), and recompose familiar tunes. Currently on haitus, their last performances featured a song cycle entitled ‘Solar Odyssey’, performing a song for each planet and dwarf planet in the solar system. Their Beatles recomposition is scored for three a capella voices in a style somewhere between motets and folk-gospel. Wungsten aims to take the traditional guitar-and-voice folk song to a new place. This performance is from Alumni Concert Hall at Carnegie Mellon University in May of 2009.
