I created a musical work based on the words of Maurice Sendak upon an email from my friend and collaborator Keith Hampton, after he suggested I listen to an interview Sendak gave on NPR in the fall of 2011. The text deals with Sendak’s feelings about his family, his life partner, and accepting his old age.
“Live your life, live your life, live your life…”

“Very moved”--Terry Gross

An excellent full-story article on the work and its relevance to Public Broadcasting appeared here on The Current. The piece has gone on to receive press coverage from Baltimore Out Loud, Baltimore Gay Life, Edge Media Network, and radio interviews on Minnesota Public Radio and Colorado Public Radio.
